A custom orthotic is a device that discreetly slips inside a shoe and is designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. Orthotics look like insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance or biomechanical misalignment (i.e. high arch or flat feet).

The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot ensuring the correct position of the feet and ankles.  Foot orthotics can also reduce muscular fatigue and may help to promote more efficient muscle performance.

A custom orthotic has been made from precise imprints of your feet.  Foot orthotics are one solution to poor foot mechanics, the symptoms of poor foot mechanics can include any one of the following:

  • Localized foot pain
  • Bunions, hammer toes
  • Arch/heel pain
  • Leg/knee pain
  • Hip or back pain – even neck pain

Orthotics are worn by people for various reasons and in varying degrees of activity.

Individuals who may benefit from foot orthotics include people who stand or walk on hard surfaces for considerable amounts of time each day, who participate in high-impact sports, have had previous foot or leg injuries, or experience joint pain when walking, running, or standing. People often find orthotics helpful when suffering from:

  • Foot pain
  • Knee and back pain
  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis

Our trained professionls will use software developed by The Orthotic Group to perform a static and dynamic gait scan to determine the current mechanics of your stance and gait pattern. This will allow The Orthotic Group technicians to develop the optimal orthotic designed specifically for your foot and activity needs.
